Yes, there is skills mismatch

Let us say I was lucky to be employed at our company and fate brought and kept me here for two years now.

I think I was supposed to be chased but the company is a start-up, the wage is not so much competition and they are probably seeing potential in me and keep on waiting for it and if so, that is the fate I am talking about.

Today companies need a kind of person who can create jobs for them, who can criticise ideas and contribute constructive ones, someone reliable and problem solver.

I wasn't that person when I arrived here and like any other graduate, we have not been prepared for those, arguing with seniors, correcting the directives and coming up with your ideas and advised them to be implemented at someone's office.

We are prepared to obey, follow and execute orders and reporting progress. Looking at myself from this point of view I would have been an employee of the month for every month and an employee of the year for two consecutive terms.

Okay, the case at our company is not the case with all companies because most of them are still traditional but this will not last long, in the near future most companies and organisations will need modern kind of people, cognitive, social behavioural and adaptable and this is not someone from college or university and the traditional learning system.

Graduates need to understand and work on this, they should go the extra mile and get themselves ready. Start and join movements and communities, volunteer in social enterprise, go for internships and attending forums while waiting for permanent jobs and try to practice for modern skills or else they will have to wait longer to be productive at their jobs or being terminated for the same.

With digital technology, this is possible and easy and they can learn this even when at college. Doing some online free courses, working virtually and joining online communities. Most of the jobs will soon not need you at the office, will need your thoughts whenever you are.

Can we deliver? Yes
