Scapbook Challange #20: Review. Reflect, Plan

Image
Remember  my digital, online learning skills . A lot has changed and there are even more opportunities I have improved much on my citizenship and collaboration with a slight improvement on creation and choice of tools, except for video contents and editing to the higher quality. My connection and communication skills have remained same though there some improvement but are more theoretical than practical, I have made some practices and add connections but I need more practice as a competent learner to see how best I can do as a digital citizen.  I need more development on Communication and creation because these were not directly in line with the course sessions compared to others. Communication also was the biggest challenge with me at the beginning and creation has happened to be on my interest throughout the course and here is the plan to take this experience to a new level. 1. 1 tweeter post/comment every day for three months  2....

Scrapbook Challenge #19: Lights, camera, ction

Image
Creating this video was a nice experience, I tried it offline with my webcam and online with Wevideo but the online experience was not good because of the internet bandwidth so I made several practices offline until I was confident enough to create a good video and uploaded it to Wevideo and make some edits. Because I was in a free mode I had to upload the audio and image that I used for editing. The editing was not so much challenging because I was referring to tutorial video on the course and I was able to upload and share my video on youtube, all the uploading procedures are visible on the tools and it is just cool. several practices was a key, as you record more videos you become confident.

Scrapbook challenge #15: Digital Curation and ME

Image
I am now curating online materials and  scoop.it  has been my favourite. I have created my topic and I can follow up other topics of interest, curate more materials and learn. The tool is more professional and there are a lot of interesting topics from different areas of professionalism for learning and collaboration. The content is described and you can simply understand whether it is useful for you or not. It has been the best alternative to Google + following the disappearance of the later. I like the specification and being purposely for learning that means when you go for scoop.it you go learning. The challenge that I faced is getting an extension for the tool, this could have made scooping easy direct from the web but I could not find it, though I saw it in one of the Youtube tutorial videos. The other thing I found difficult to use is sharing on social media, a tweeter post was created but I could not find it on my profile and there was a blank space for linked in t...

Scrapbook challange #13: Reflective writing

I have created my identity on different tools and platforms of my choice depending on interests and I have a network of professionals and materials that help me learn interactively. When online you need to behave as your identity is very important for your career and learning. You also have to create a communication strategy that will take you from being a consumer to being a commentator and an agent of change. When online there are people, hashtags and groups of your interest to follow, that enables you to stay organized but you need also to create by synthesize other people's ideas and come up with your own contribution not just a like. I am well organized with few people to learn from and few hashtags of interest areas, but I am not confident enough to share all my feelings, there is a sense of insecurity when comes to some staffs where I am not felling like I have much contributions to make, So I contribute on communities and people that I am confident and push a little bit...

Scarbook chalange #11: 4 C's of using social media for online learning

Image
I have followed @julielindsey @kwezilukas @Tanzania youth economic forum @womenmoves on tweeter, facebook and Instagram @world economic forum @kamatafursatz @ecovalleytz @charles stuart uni and @saveelderstanzania, hashtags that I follow are #getreadyDOL #education #enterpreneur what I have found interesting to read was about communication disability, that failure to master some of communication components like fluency and intelligibility makes us disabled. I related this to uncertainty culture where the freedom of expression is highly hindered despite of ones level of civilization or education and fluency. The other interesting thing was about measures of education success and digital technologies to revolutionize the sector whereby as the measures correlates higher level achievement to earnings and integrating social aspects of education equity and social mobility and going further to consider the joy of learning and cognitive pedagogy and leverage on technology to ensure collabor...

Scrapbook challange #12: Networking

Image
My name is Peter Madoshi and I am a consultant and project manager interested in digital technologies and social enterprise. I am also a fan of innovation and soccer. #getredyDOL #education #digital have been my favorite hashtags so far on social media platforms and I would like to understand how people contribute in these aspects and what exactly are they contributing

Scrap book challange #9: Brand of me

Image
My online identity is the general or global representation of me and as a professional it is my brand. "what is he sharing online?" might be a question people who want to work with me may consider before deciding on a partnership. Therefore the identity is important as it tells people who I am and help attract people of my interest like clients or employers. Learning and career are more of interaction to the civilized world, the worst you identify yourself as a bad digital citizen you block your connection to others as no one would prefer to network with a bad behaving person. Sharing of immoral posts, abusive comments and signs of threat to others will make people block a network with you or not preferring you for jobs and therefore putting your  leaning or career in danger. Three word that are "brand of me" are Friend, project manager and consultant The two sentences that describe me are A digital citizen A leader of digital economy I am currently an...

Scrapbook challange #8: How large is my digital footprint

Image
My digital footprint appear I the most places that I visit or that people have shares my information and places that I appear officially like work and academic institutions. It is not bigger because digital revolution is in initial stages and I have been to academic institutions when data were stored manually. My prints also does not appear on the search for the tools I rarely use like Linkedin, Canva, Pintrest and blogger.com. this is because is started using them recently and I do not have much content there and because I am not much familiar with them on settings and I have probably not made them more public. I appreciate the fact that my footprint is not that bigger and therefore manageable, with the digital skills that I am learning I can be able to make it organized and safe.

Scrapbook challange #7: Web 2.0 smackdown

I have been thinking of creating a website, I visited Wix.com after seeing an add on YouTube and google site on google drive when I was doing "learning on cloud session " and the experience was interesting. I did not know about Weebly also  a free website creating site  until I learned it on "digital toolbox" and it draw my attention. The visit to all these three was to create a free website for an organization and a project I am thinking of "to create an online center for graduate youth to interact and leverage on social capital to increase their employability. I managed a website from wix.com for Women movement and efforts organization and I had started working for a hub website on google sites and currently Weebly where I am progressing well. If your thinking of having a website and you do not have money I recommend these free website creating sites. Though you will need to upgrade them for the case of Wix and Weebly to be adds' free but they sav...

Scrapbook challange #6: My digital, online learning skills

Image
I can connect, communicate and behave online, the challanges comes with collaboration, creation and choices of the best learning tools and these are the areas I would like to improve. As can be seen they are related, but I have found that I am not familiar with most of the tools mentioned and not In professional communities except from google+ which is no longer functioning and medium where I only read articles. I had no confidence sharing opinions and ideas on platforms, thanks to the course that I beginning to be confident. Beginning with collaboration, I have tried to interact with colleagues on the course, commenting and asking and I have found out some who we are almost on the same level and I am going to initiate more interaction and integrate other tools like skype and tweeter, I will try to join professional communities on different platforms and collaborate in discussions and issues. By doing so I will add more tools on my PLE meaning that depending on interests ...

Communication fear, Cultural or what?

Image
I was thinking of removing communication skills on my CV, Thanks to this course I am pursuing  Get ready, get set, become a digital online learner .  All these years I thought I have been lying about my skills by including communication as one of them until I realized that I really have it. Communication has changed a bit nowadays as a result of digital disruption that has made the connection very easy and adds an asynchronous aspect, that you do not need to be together or be at the same time zone to communicate.  When I started working my communication experience was quite different from what I expected, I was added to WhatsApp groups, given an email account, phone numbers of my colleagues and told to express anything and that it could be of value to the organization. I thought communication was brought to its simplest level, but it was not the case. I did not know much about an organization and most of the work that we were doing, I was very junior to my co...

Online Learning

I am comfortable using my computer because it allows me to navigate through different activities, I do not need to use other device for any task, it is comfortable with the typing than mobile phone and I have not had any bad experience so far. I am also comfortable using internet when there is a problem because I can simply contact the support team, for example I got a challenge during registration with the postal address and my password containing characters common to my email and they were all resolved and I managed to join. the other good experience with internet is I get email notifications when logged out of the course and I can track all issues that needs my attention on time. I have set a time for taking my course everyday at my sitting room, I get one hour everyday when I wake up to go through at least one session and other interactions like other peoples posts, announcements and correcting previous errors to my issues. I am doing this all alone and I have chosen  the t...

Learning in the 21st century

It does not matter whether music is playing at the neighbor's house or a family member is interfering, when your learning online you will just learn. There is nothing like very cool environment or a specific place and you can get even a degree, the very best one. Only that the course should be well structured. When I wake up every morning I take an enterpreneurship lesson on an app and there after I switch to my get ready, get set, be online learner course, but today was different, music was playing at the next window to mine and I could not concentrate with the enterpreneurship lesson, I decided to switch to online learning without doing my enterpreneurship module. I had a scrapbook challenge waiting for me, I though let me try that and see and it just worked well, I managed to continue despite all the disturbance and then I noticed something. learning online should be different from the traditional learning. it should be practical and integrated, some reading, a video and doi...
